To the editor:
In July I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Councilmember Dwayne Lowman (District 1) as he walked door to door in my neighborhood.
He took a good half hour to stand in my driveway and listened to the concerns I voiced with regard to the current state of Bloomington, both from aesthetic and financial standpoints, many of which he has himself. He wants to see our city continue to thrive and be a great place to live, work and enjoy for all residents equally on the east and west side of the city. This approach, I feel, will allow us to keep our housing resales desired and competitive with our surrounding suburbs, while continuing to provide us with a great place to live.
Dwayne is a true “Bloomingtonite” through and through. He grew up in Bloomington, went to Kennedy High School, has a family history of volunteerism in Bloomington and knows our history. I was impressed that he had achieved a council seat already, even though he claims no party affiliation. He stated that he has “no other agenda but to continue to make Bloomington a great place to live.” I believe him. He is an intelligent, articulate, insightful, personable and down-to-earth man, with some fantastic ideas for moving Bloomington forward.
Please take the time to check out his website, dwaynealowman.com, as I did, and learn more about this very resourceful man who is committed to “serving Bloomington one person at a time.” We need more people like Dwayne representing us. I know where my vote will be in November.
