for Bloomington City Council - District 1
I love Bloomington. It’s a fantastic place to be from, to live, to play, and to work. I wanted to pass along the exciting announcement to voters that I have won the primary and will be running for City Council in November. This will be a team effort and I need your help.
Steve Peterson, who formerly held the district seat I am seeking, has been on the council for several years and has been an inspiring leader. After conversations with city leaders, Mayor Winsted, and former Mayor Neil Peterson I was encouraged to seek office.
Since I have support from across the political spectrum, I will take advantage of these perspectives to help me make informed decisions. Bloomington’s municipal seats are not designated by political party. Thankfully, Bloomington has avoided the partisan races.
I remember learning about the effective and balanced fiscal planning approach when I was an intern for the City of Bloomington in the planning division over 15 years ago. Even today, I see that same approach being used in leadership and the results that have come from those values. I will strive to uphold these same values as the city leader from District One.
When I look up to see the future of Bloomington, I see the bright rays of opportunity just on the horizon. We need to harness this energy and effectively transform our resources. I am seeking to protect how our neighborhoods look through increasing citizen involvement, ensuring public safety by supporting our critical public services, continuing to support innovative economic opportunities, and support Bloomington's legacy of strong fiscal management.
For this campaign to be successful, it will require a strong neighborhood centered organization. Volunteers have already dropped over 1500 literature pieces and have mailed over 500 letters. With brochures, flyers, lawn signs, and door hangers for door knocks I can use many volunteers to help spread the word about my platform in the upcoming election. Here are some ways that you can help:
I look forward to continuing the privilege of serving the people of Bloomington on our City Council.
